A TASTE OF NEW ZEALAND COMING TO SINGAPORE - 22/07/2012

Until now, Singaporeans had to travel to the bottom of the earth to experience the true flavour of classic Kiwi dining.

New bar and eatery Fern & Kiwi is bringing the best and freshest New Zealand produce, beer, wine and musical talent to its large Clarke Quay premises, opening in September.

Lead by New Zealand celebrity chef Mathew Metcalfe, Fern & Kiwi will serve beef, lamb, pork and venison straight from the farm and fish and oysters plucked straight from New Zealand waters.

Premium New Zealand pinot noir and sauvignon blanc labels will be served on tap - the latest trend to please both the environment and the wallet - and will be joined by a line-up of New Zealand's favourite beers including Steinlager, Mac's, Speight's.

Channelling the typical, drawn-out Kiwi summer holiday - fresh ingredients, cool beers and chilled-out tunes - Fern & Kiwi will also introduce Singapore to some of New Zealand's best Kiwi-grown musical talent.

Director Simon Dunlop, who introduced the iconic G-MAX Reverse Bungy & GX-5 Extreme Swing to Clarke Quay says: “Singapore and New Zealand have traditionally had close ties. We want to celebrate that connection by bringing a taste of the classic New Zealand dining experience for Singapore to enjoy.”

Fern & Kiwi is the international offshoot of successful New Zealand restaurant chain Lone Star and the Singapore venture is the company's first step to sharing the best of New Zealand food, beverage and service with Asia, and the world.

Starting in Christchurch in 1988, Lone Star has become a Kiwi institution, with 21 branches across the North and South Islands serving top-quality meals with top-notch* friendly service. The Clarke Quay site is the first restaurant to open since the mothership outlet was destroyed in last year's devastating Christchurch earthquake.

Director Shane Hausler says: "We're stoked* to bring a slice of true New Zealand to Singapore. The exciting, non-stop and friendly atmosphere of Singapore makes the Fern & Kiwi the perfect place to chill out with great feed*, a cold brew* and mates* from all around the world."
